Modern Foreign Languages
Years 7 and 8 are used to develop a basic level of communication focusing on the key skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in the target language. A broad range of vocabulary and an introduction to grammar are covered with the themes studied. In Year 9 the curriculum allows the four main skill areas to be built on in preparation for option choices in KS4.

Spanish – Introducing yourself, grammar, making arrangements, house and home, likes and dislikes, food and drink in Spain and Spanish-speaking countries, buying drinks and snacks. |
| Year 8 | French – sport, body parts and illnesses, preparing for a party, entertainment, tourist information and holiday plans.
Spanish – clothes, free time, festivals, health, holidays and your future. |
| Year 9 | French – describing friends and family, applying for a job, where I live, the environment, festivals and Paris landmarks.
Spanish – pocket money, career choices, applying for a job, life in a developing Spanish-speaking country, Spanish festivals, technology and describing your best friend. |
| Year 10 | Spanish – Holidays, school life, my people and interests and influences. |
| Year 11 | Spanish – Towns and cities, customs, at work, making a better world. |
