Pupil Premium

Supporting every learner to succeed
At Brannel School, we are committed to ensuring that every learner has the opportunity to achieve their potential, regardless of their background or circumstances.
Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government to support eligible disadvantaged learners. We use this funding to help remove barriers to learning, strengthen educational outcomes and provide opportunities that enable every learner to thrive.
Our approach is focused on the individual needs of each learner. We use evidence, data and professional knowledge to identify barriers, provide targeted support and monitor the impact of the strategies we put in place.
Who is eligible for Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium funding supports specific groups of learners who may face additional barriers to achieving their potential.
This includes:
Free School Meals — FSM / Ever 6
Learners who are currently eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) or who have been eligible for FSM during the past six years.
Looked-after and previously looked-after children
Funding is available for eligible looked-after children (LAC) and previously looked-after children (PLAC) through Pupil Premium Plus (PP+).
Service children
Additional funding is available for eligible learners with a parent who is serving, or has served, in the regular Armed Forces within the past six years through Service Pupil Premium (SPP).

Our Approach
Our Pupil Premium strategy is built around a simple principle: every learner deserves the opportunity to succeed.
We focus our work across three key areas.
1. High-quality teaching
High-quality teaching is at the heart of our approach. We maintain high aspirations and expectations for every learner and use evidence to understand which strategies have the greatest impact.
Teachers are aware of learners eligible for Pupil Premium and use this information alongside their professional knowledge to provide appropriate support and challenge.
2. Targeted individual support
We identify the specific barriers that may affect an individual learner's progress, attainment, attendance or wellbeing.
Where additional support is needed, we provide targeted interventions and respond quickly when a learner's progress begins to slow.
Our approach recognises that disadvantaged learners are not a single group. We consider the individual needs of every learner, including those who may face additional barriers or have particular strengths and talents.
3. Working with families
We recognise the important role that families play in supporting a learner's education.
We work with parents and carers to understand individual needs, communicate progress and identify ways in which school and home can work together to support positive outcomes.
Measuring Impact
We regularly monitor the progress, attainment, attendance and wider outcomes of learners supported through Pupil Premium.
The impact of our strategy is reviewed throughout the year so that we can identify what is working, respond to emerging needs and adapt our approach where necessary.
Our aim is not simply to provide additional support, but to ensure that the support we provide makes a meaningful difference to learners' experiences and outcomes.
