Our Vision for Learning

Our vision for Brannel is to be a world-class school where every learner, through personalised learning and ambitious goals, stretches their boundaries and achieves more than they ever thought possible. At Brannel School, we prepare learners to live and work in a modern, global society shaped by constant change, challenge, and opportunity.

An ethic of excellence underpins every aspect of teaching and learning at Brannel. We are proud to have been awarded Laboratory School status by the University of Bolton in recognition of our high-quality classroom practice. This reflects our commitment to connecting strong curriculum design with expert pedagogy, effective assessment for learning, student agency, purposeful task setting, and coaching.

Our learners are encouraged to set ambitious personal goals and strive for continual improvement. Our approach focuses on progression through the careful sequencing of knowledge and skills, providing clarity about what success looks like in each subject, and supporting learners to take ownership of their development.

We believe in education for life. Alongside academic achievement, we develop the broad knowledge, character, and personal skills young people need to thrive as confident, educated citizens and succeed in their future pathways.

An Inclusive Curriculum

Our curriculum at Brannel School is inclusive, accessible, and ambitious for every learner. We recognise that all young people have individual strengths and needs, and our approach is centred on understanding and anticipating those needs so that barriers to learning are removed. This ensures that every learner can access a broad, balanced, and carefully sequenced curriculum that enables them to succeed.

In the spirit of the Equality Act 2010, we foster a culture of inclusion, support, and respect across our school community. We are committed to ensuring that every learner feels valued, supported, and able to thrive both academically and personally. Further information can be found in our Accessibility Plan.

In line with the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice: 0–25 years, we regularly assess the needs of our learners and carefully plan the most effective support to help them succeed. We work closely with families, staff, and external agencies to ensure appropriate provision is in place and continually review its impact on learners’ access to the curriculum and wider school life.
