Ofsted, results and performance

Performance & Results

At Brannel School, we are committed to helping every learner achieve their potential and preparing them for success beyond school, by providing an exceptional educational experience for every learner.

This page provides an overview of our learners’ achievements, progress and outcomes, alongside our latest school performance information and Ofsted findings.

While examination results are an important measure of achievement, they are only one part of the Brannel experience. We are equally proud of the confidence, creativity, resilience and ambition our learners develop throughout their time with us.

Our successes are the result of the hard work and determination of our learners, the dedication of our staff, and the continued support of families and our wider community. Together, we are committed to building on our progress and creating opportunities for every learner to thrive.

Ofsted

Brannel School was inspected by Ofsted in June 2026. The inspection looked at six areas of the school’s provision and assessed three areas as Expected, with three areas identified as Needs Attention.

The inspection provides us with valuable feedback on our strengths and the areas where we can continue to improve. We are committed to working with our learners, families, staff and wider community to build on our progress and ensure that every learner receives the support, opportunities and education they need to thrive.

We welcome the opportunity to use the findings of the inspection to strengthen our practice and continue our journey of improvement.

Brannel School – Celebrating a year of growth, ambition and achievement

Brannel School is proudly celebrating a year of continued improvement in outcomes for our learners, driven by ambition, hard work and the belief that every young person can thrive.

This year’s results show a strong upward trajectory:

  • Attainment 8 has risen to 41.6 in 2025, up from 40.8 in 2024 - demonstrating greater success across a broad curriculum.

  • The most significant gains have been made in disadvantaged learners’ outcomes, with their Attainment 8 jumping from 29.5 to 38 in just one year. This reflects our impactful support, strong teaching and a commitment to equity for our learners.

  • 54.9% of learners achieved Grade 4 or above in English and Maths, meaning more learners than ever have secured the key qualifications needed to progress successfully into further education, training or employment.

  • An extraordinary improvement in language outcomes with 67% of learners achieving Grade 5 or above compared to 53% last year, well above the national average.

  • Creativity shines through at Brannel school, and this is demonstrated in our exceptional Drama results with 65.7% % of students achieving a Grade 5 or above. Our learners also performed brilliantly in Photography with 78.9% achieving a Grade 5 or above.

These improvements show that Brannel learners are not just achieving more, they are thinking bigger, aiming higher, and opening more doors to future pathways. The significant rise in outcomes for disadvantaged learners is a particular point of pride and speaks to a culture where potential is recognised and nurtured. The improved outcomes in many areas build on our first year of achieving a positive Progress 8 score in 2024.

This success reflects the dedication and teamwork of learners, families, teachers and support staff. Together, we have strengthened expectations, deepened support strategies, and celebrated every milestone along the way.

Phoenix

Phoenix achieved a stunning set of top grades with Grade 9s in Computer Science, Maths, Chemistry, and Physics.

He's now studying A levels at Callywith College.

Willow

Aspiring GB sailor, Willow, balanced her studies with a month-long sailing trip around the British Isles and still achieved some fantastic results, including Grade 8s in Photography and Geography.

Willow is on a mission to inspire other young women to take up sailing, after having the opportunity to participate in small group sailing courses organised by Roseland Youth Sailing Trust whilst at school.

Quinn secured outstanding results with Grade 9s in Geography, History, and Computer Science, as well as a brilliant 99 double award in Combined Science.

Olivia

One of our leading cadets in our Combined Cadet Force, Olivia, received Grade 9s in English Literature, French, Geography and Biology, alongside impressive Grade 8s in GCSE P.E. and Chemistry.

Olivia is now studying the International Baccalaureate at Truro College, a rigorous, two-year pre-university curriculum, designed to prepare students for higher education.

Tristan Muller-Forster, Headteacher at Brannel School, said:

“We are incredibly proud of our students and the results they have achieved, which are hugely deserved. They have worked extremely hard to gain these results, over the 5 years that they have been with us at Brannel School, but specifically over the last two years. It’s always such a privilege to be celebrating their achievements with them today.

“It is a real representation of the support that our Trust and our school has from all our students and their families. I would like to thank everyone involved in supporting our young people but especially their families, our staff and the wider community for their ongoing support and we look forward to seeing our students progress on to the next stage of their education and fulfil their goals.”
