Admissions

Welcome to Brannel School

Choosing a secondary school is an important decision for every family. We want prospective families to have all the information they need to understand the admissions process and discover what life at Brannel School is like.

Whether your child is joining us in Year 7 or applying for a place in another year group, you will find information about applications, visiting the school and the next steps below.

Come and Visit Us

Choosing a secondary school is about more than an application form. We want prospective families to experience Brannel School for themselves.

Our Open Evening takes place each autumn and provides an opportunity to:

  • Meet our staff and school leaders

  • Talk to our learners

  • Explore our facilities and learning spaces

  • Discover our curriculum and wider opportunities

  • Ask questions about life at Brannel

We also offer guided school tours, giving prospective families the opportunity to see the school in action and get a feel for our community.

Starting at Brannel

Moving from primary to secondary school is an exciting milestone. Our transition programme is designed to help learners and families feel informed, welcomed and ready for the move to Brannel.

Our Transition Hub contains useful information about key dates, transition activities, preparation for starting secondary school and what families can expect during the process.

Admissions into Other Year Groups

If you are looking for a place at Brannel School outside the normal Year 7 admissions process, you will need to apply through Cornwall Council's admissions service.

If your child is offered a place at Brannel, we will work with your family to support their transition into school. You will be invited to visit the school, meet with an appropriate member of staff and discuss arrangements for your child's start.

If your application is unsuccessful, Cornwall Council will provide information about your options, including your right to appeal and arrangements for joining the waiting list.
