Quality pastoral care focuses on the whole student (personal, social, and academic) and it engages all members of the school community as providers of pastoral care. This is achieved through the quality of teaching and learning; through the nature of relationships amongst students, teachers and adults other than teachers; through arrangements for monitoring students’ overall progress (academic, personal and social); through specific pastoral and support systems; and through extra-curricular activities and the school’s ethos.

We understand that every child is different and that, for some children, school is not always an easy experience and growing up can be difficult. Children occasionally face social and emotional challenges which can impact on their learning.

Our Pastoral Team, managed by Mr Murray-Adams (Assistant Headteacher), are available to all of our students who need them. Some of the ways the Pastoral Team can support students are:

• 1-1 mentoring
• Attendance support
• Strategies and advice to manage behaviour 
• Social and emotional support
• Referrals to our School Counsellor
• Emotional first aid/mental health support
• Understanding around self-harm and suicide
• Support with relationships/friendships
• Referrals to outside agencies and specialist provision
• Support during difficult times for the family
